The Cleansing Blood
I Am Complete in Thee
melody
No longer of a heart unclean,
Nor am I lost in sin.
Thou hast by blood this soul redeemed,
And placed a lamp within.
(refrain)
Thou washed away my guiltiness,
In Thee I rise to holiness,
In Thee I follow righteousness,
I am complete in Thee.
Now in this word of light I walk
In fellowship with Thee.
Thy cleansing fount will, if I fall,
Keep me in purity.
(refrain)
Thou suffered in my guilty place.
Thou drank my cup of wrath,
That I might know God's peace and grace,
Drawn through a blood rich bath (Jn.13:10).
(refrain)
Though condemnation may on earth
Trouble my surety,
God's holy word declares my worth;
I am complete in Thee.
(refrain)

Herein Is Love
melody
Herein is love, that God loved us, (1Jn.4:10, 19)
Not that we sought or first loved Him. (Rom.3:10-11)
For ere Eve's trial, was set that cross (Jn.12:27)
Where poured God's fiery wrath on sin. (Jn.18:11)
And ere the fall, my sin God saw,1Pet.19-20)
As one with Adam's flesh and bone, (Rom.5:12).
Yet sent His Son to suffer all; (Rev.13:8),
For all my guilt and sins foreknown.
Though man may rarely be impelled
By love to die for kin or friend, (Rom.5:7,Jn.15:13),
The boundless love of God excels,
As love to even foe extends.(Rom.5:8)
Forgiven sin; were that the sum (Col.2:14)
Of love divine, unceasing praise
Would rise in thanks for what He'd done.
But greater still God's love conveys; (Eph.1:3)
For where the Suff'ring Servant hung (Is.53:5)
Was burned a way for me to hide, (Gen.2:21-22)
And be for God and for His Son,
Adopted child and chosen bride. (1Jn.3:1, Rev.21:2)

Our Fellowship
1John 1:7
but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his
Son cleanseth us from all sin.(KJV)
"Fellowship" is from the Greek noun koinonia, also meaning communion, partnership, a sharing, oneness.
Of light
"The light" is God's word. It is a seed by which we are born again (Jas.1:17-18), and a path for our heart and mind to walk (Ps.119:105) as a company of saints, together reflecting
His light in a world of darkness (Eph.5:8-10).
Of blood
The blood is the sin cleansing power wrought by Christ's substitutionary death (Matt.26:28, Heb.9:12-14). It washes away our sins so that we are fully and forever accepted in the beloved (Col.1:12-14).
We need only once receive the blood bath at the
gate of salvation (Jn.13:8, Tit.3:5, Rev.1:5), but we need daily to receive spiritual foot washings in order to maintain our 'koinonia'; as we grow in the grace of the Spirit of Christ (Jn.13:10, Gal.6:18).
No longer of a heart unclean,
Nor am I lost in sin.
Thou hast by blood this soul redeemed,
And placed a lamp within.
Now in that word of light I walk
In fellowship with Thee
Our Righteousness
1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (KJV).
"Just" and un-"righteousness" is from the Greek adjective dikaios, meaning keeping or matching up perfectly with the word of God and therefore innocent, faultless and guiltless in God's eyes. On the other hand, self righteousness is being faultless in one's own eyes.
Without Christ
God's word says that the heart of man is desperately wicked (Jer.17:9). Its righteousness is as filthy rags (Rom.3:10-12). If we say we are righteous, or at least "not so bad", it is based on self deception (1Jn.1:8) and taking a position opposite what God has said (1Jn.1:10).
With Christ
God's word did not stop at the revelation of my wretched condition, He also gave good news (Rom.3:21-22), that all who come to him with a heart broken of sin, He will wash and heal (Matt.9:12-13, 1Tim.1:15). All of us
incessantly fall short of God's word (Rom.7:7-8), but in Christ God is faithful to do exactly what he promised (Jn.6:37,40); washing away our sins (Is.1:18) and wrapping us in the righteousness of Christ (2Cor.5:21).
From the day am saved until the day I am received into heaven, I cannot add one whit of righteousness to that which enfolds me the moment I am born in Christ (Rom.10:4, Phil.3:9). The righteousness of Christ in me can, and should, be magnified as I trust and obey, but there is no adding to it (Phi1:10-11, 20, 2:12-13).
In Thee I follow righteousness
Thy cleansing fount will if I fall
Keep me in purity
You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness... (Hab.1:13)
Our Peace
1John 2:2
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (KJV)
Propitiation is from the Greek noun hilasmos, also meaning appeasement or placation.
The Price
The ceremonial sacrifices under the Mosaic law could only temporarily cover over the sins of Israel, but could not permanently remove them because God's anger against us was not satisfied (Ps.7:11). The price to remove our sin was God's own son who alone became the acceptable sacrifice for my sins at Calvary (Heb.10:4-5).
The Place
God is now at peace with all men on earth but that peace is realized only in Christ, by those who receive Him by faith. For those who remain outside of Christ, God's wrath and the curse yet abide (Jn.3:36).
The Prophetic Shadow
In Leviticus 16:7-10, two goats were selected and presented by Aaron before the door of the tabernacles so all might see them. One goat was slain as a sin offering, declaring how the Son would become the sinless substitute sacrifice for my sin (Heb.9:22) (Is.53:4-6, 10-11). The other goat was the scapegoat which was
presented alive before the Lord and then driven into the wilderness, representing how the resurrected Christ was proof that my sins have been removed from me as far as the east is from the west (Ps.103:12, Rom.4:25). Together, these goats prophetically and typologically represent how Jesus is the basis for both our peace with God and our holiness in His eyes (Rom.3:23-26).
The People
In Christ, the whole world is called be reconciled to God (Matt.28:18-19) and united together in the Body of Christ (Eph.2:16-19) based on his work of reconciliation at Calvary (Col.1:20-22).
Thou took away my guiltiness
Thou suffered in my guilty place
Thou drank my cup of wrath
That I might know God's peace and grace
Drawn through a blood rich bath
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:14)
Our Holiness
1John 3:5
And ye know that he was manifested
to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
"Manifested" is from the Greek verb phaneroo also meaning: appear, make known, make visible, bring to light.

Holy in Heaven
Jesus Christ picked up his cross
to take away my sins
So to heaven with its host;
I holey entering in (Eph.5:27).
Holy on earth
Now in Christ I hide; no fear,
Where are my sins deleted. (2Cor.5:21, Heb.10:16-17).
May that truth in me shine clear, (Gal.2:20)
And not His work impeded. (Phil.2:13).
For 'round me hangs conquered flesh,
Torn by Calv'ry's spikes and blows, (Gal.5:24),
Flapping winds of vanquished land, (Jn.16:33,
1Jn.5:4),
Loathing to let go the hold (Gal.5:17).

Our Security
1John 3:20
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things (KJV)
My conscience set by God at birth keeps me
On the path 'tween guardrails of my soul
when sinful steps violate, it meets me
And warns my feet where they must not go (1Tim.1:5)
Yet this my internal God given guide
Does spoil from words spewing up from hell (2Tim.2:16-19)
But as we know in truth as sons of light
His more sure word doubtful heart dispels (2Pet1:19)
I am complete in Thee
Though condemnation may on earth
Trouble my surety,
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Rom.8:1)

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (KJV)
