Training Wheels

It's perhaps somewhat confusing that:

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us....If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach - Rom. 12: 6-7

but on the other hand:

As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things... - 1John 2: 27

So how is it we don't need anyone to teach us, but yet there are those with the gift of teaching? The answer is that the teaching of men is like training wheels for young Christians. Training wheels have served their purpose when they are no longer needed. God utilizes men as training wheels to teach us His truth. But sooner or later He expects the training wheels to come off. When they do, we can better maneuver about and be led to places we otherwise might not get to---being taught directly by the "anointing" of the Holy Spirit.
