"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." Matt. 16:19
Five observations about what the Bible says about the Keys to the Kingdom:
The Kingdom Key Card
The keys to the kingdom of heaven operate like a hotel room door with a guest inside and a man outside holding a key card. If the key card is inserted into the slot by the man and rejected, a red light appears and the door remains shut. But if the information on the key card is received and accepted, a green light appears and the door flies opened as the room becomes awash in light and life.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me." Revelation 3:20

Information on the Kingdom Key Card:
1) All men are born sinners, separated from God and under His curse and impending final judgment
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Rom 3:23
2) Jesus hung in our guilty place on Calvary's cross and suffered the judgment for our sins.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us-- for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE "-- Galatians 3:13
3) After three days, Jesus rose from the dead and soon after ascended to heaven. In so doing, he became for us a way of escape from eternal death judgment to eternal life in heaven.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life...He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." John 3:16, 36
4) There is nothing we can do to save ourselves from the spiritual death grip of our sin in a perishing world. God has done it all for us. All we do is a matter of the heart in response to the gospel---we must only turn to Jesus and receive God's free offer of forgiveness and eternal life by faith---there is no other way.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2: 4-9
Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." John 6:28-29
